In Situ Growth of Ti3C2/UiO-66-NH2 Composites for Photoreduction of Cr(VI)

Cr(VI) is one of the most toxic heavy metals, posing multiple threats to humans and ecosystems. Photoreduction para-toxic Cr(III) effective ways remove metal chromium but still challenging. Herein, Ti3C2/UiO-66-NH2 composites with different ratio Ti3C2 were synthesized via an in situ solvothermal process used for enhanced photocatalytic removal first time. The UiO-66-NH2 nanoparticles dispersed on surface slits accordion-like homogeneously. A strong interfacial interaction between was formed, which indicated by XPS. Fermi level MXene cocatalyst lower than UiO-66-NH2; thus, can serve as electron sink accumulate photogenerated electrons from its surface. depletion layer also formed due levels Ti3C2, prevents flowing back UiO-66-NH. are beneficial following charge transfer after light irradiation suppressing recombination. With suitable band positions separation ability, exhibited better photoreduction efficiency Cr2O72− pure UiO-66-NH2, optimized samples reaching 100% 40 min. kinetics 2-T/U studied, a rate 0.0871 min−1, about 2.6 times higher that This research provides new type efficient environmentally friendly photocatalysts Cr2O72−.
